Consorzio Tutela Lambrusco

Consorzio Tutela Lambrusco

A total of around 16,600 hectares under vine and a production which, in 2020, exceeded the 42 million bottles of 2019 by 3%: this is Lambrusco DOC, which, as of 1st January 2021, has a new protection body in operation. Created from the merger by incorporation of the ‘Consorzio Tutela del Lambrusco di Modena’, the ‘Consorzio per la Tutela e la Promozione dei Vini DOP Reggiano e Colli di Scandiano e Canossa’ and the ‘Consorzio di Tutela Vini del Reno D.O.C.’, the Consorzio Tutela Lambrusco represents eight denominations located between Modena and Reggio Emilia: Lambrusco DOC, Lambrusco di Sorbara DOC, Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro DOC, Lambrusco Salamino di Santa Croce DOC, Reggiano DOC, Colli di Scandiano e di Canossa DOC, Reno DOC and Bianco di Castelfranco Emilia IGT.

This new entity unites the forces of producers, oenologists and the communities of the regions which have contributed to making the history of Lambrusco in the world. The incredible advantage which the new Consortium has brought is of having the players of all the Lambrusco DOCs and IGTs of Emilia Romagna sit at the same table. At last, the production and communication synergies of the entire region can be agreed upon, and the difficulties of the markets can be tackled together with strategies which involve all the players in a supply chain which is also aimed at offering the great tradition of the region to new consumers and which is projecting itself into a future with broader prospects.

The first Board of Directors of the Consorzio Tutela Lambrusco appointed Claudio Biondi - already head of the Lambrusco di Modena protection body - as president of the new entity which brings together all types of Lambrusco DOC wines from Emilia Romagna. The vice-president is Davide Frascari of the Consorzio per la Tutela dei Vini DOC Reggiano e Colli di Scandiano e di Canossa.
The colour of Lambrusco, the capital letter L, a shape which recalls the movement of the bubbles which are present in all versions of Lambrusco and is reminiscent of a wax seal used to seal the most precious letters: this is the new visual identity of the Consorzio Tutela Lambrusco, which gives a new face to the body in all the contexts in which it will be called upon to act.
